26 July 2022 – The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, 5th HKTDC Sports and Leisure Expo and 2nd HKTDC World of Snacks, all organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), concluded successfully today. As the first large-scale event in 2022, the seven-day Book Fair and associated events brought together more than 700 exhibitors offering a diverse experience for shoppers that included books, sports and leisure products, and snacks. The three events drew 850,000 visitors, with average per capita spending of HK$879. The huge success of the concurrent fairs augurs well for the HKTDC’s upcoming exhibition series.

20 July 2022 – The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), begins today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and runs until 26 July. Running in tandem with the Book Fair are the 5th HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and 2nd HKTDC World of Snacks. Together, they are host to more than 700 exhibitors. Officiating at today’s opening ceremony for the three events was John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), along with Dr Peter K N Lam, Chairman of the HKTDC, and Margaret Fong, Executive Director of the HKTDC.

15 July 2022 – The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is once again holding the popular “Eight Seminar Series”, with highlights this year including the “Renowned Writers Seminar Series”, co-organised by Ming Pao and Yazhou Zhoukan, and the “English and International Reading Series”, supported by Book Depository. This year’s Book Fair, which runs from 20 to 26 July (Wednesday to Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) under the theme “History and City Literature”, has invited acclaimed local and foreign writers to speak at a series of virtual and in-person seminars, sharing the challenges and triumphs they face during their writing journey.

6 July 2022 – The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will run from 20 to 26 July (Wednesday to Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). As one of the events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), this year's Book Fair has invited acclaimed writers and organised over 600 seminars and cultural activities.

24 June 2022 – The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will run from 20 to 26 July (Wednesday to Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Tickets will open for sale on 27 June while online registration for seminars opens today (24 June), offering a wide range of stimulating and thought-provoking events for Hong Kong’s booklovers.

7 August 2021 – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP) has notified the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) that a patient who tested preliminary positive for the COVID-19 L452R mutant strain had visited the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and/or HKTDC World of Snacks on 18 July.

20 July 2021 – The HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the debut HKTDC World of Snacks drew to a successful close today. The seven-day fairs, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), attracted more than 830,000 visitors, offering a brand-new experience by bringing together a broad selection of books, sports and leisure products and snacks from more than 760 exhibitors.

9 July 2021 – The long-awaited 31st HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair takes place from 14 to 20 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The theme of this year’s Book Fair is Inspirational and Motivational Reading and one of the highlights will be the “Eight Seminar Series”, offering inspiration and helping readers enjoy a trip around the literary world. The Renowned Writers Seminar Series, co-organised with Mingpao and Yazhou Zhoukan, and the English and International Reading Series supported by Book Depository will invite renowned authors from around the globe to share their writing journeys with readers at a series of virtual and in-person seminars.

23 November 2020 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced earlier that the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, including the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo, had been rescheduled to run from 16 to 22 December 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The HKTDC has since been monitoring the pandemic situation closely while maintaining close contact with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) and the industry.

16 November 2020 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced earlier that the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, including the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo, had been rescheduled to run from 16 to 22 December 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). It was also announced that an assessment would be made a month before the fair’s scheduled opening on whether the event should proceed in light of the prevailing situation, while a final evaluation and decision would be made on 9 December, a week before the scheduled opening and just before exhibitors move in. This would help minimise any extra expenses on the part of exhibitors.

3 September 2020 – The 31st HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, including the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), has been rescheduled to run from 16 to 22 December 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, following discussions with the fair’s supporting organisations and relevant stakeholders. The event was originally scheduled for 15 to 21 July.

13 July 2020 – In view of the significant resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the recent week of 6 – 12 July, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has discussed with the Government over the weekend, and was advised that, given the latest epidemic situation and the Government re-imposing certain social distancing restrictions on public health grounds, the Book Fair, despite the precautionary measures to be put in place, should be avoided, since it would likely be difficult to perform contact tracing and imposing subsequent disease control measures for the huge number of people involved. The health of Hong Kong people is a priority. As such, the Hong Kong Book Fair (original dates: 15 to 21 July) and three other public fairs during this period: Sports and Leisure Expo (original dates: 15 to 21 July), Education and Careers Expo (original dates: 16 to 19 July) and Entrepreneur Day (original dates: 16 to 17 July) will be rescheduled.

During the fair and the citywide Cultural July campaign, over 600 online and offline cultural events, catering to different interests and age groups, will be organised, including thematic exhibitions at the Art Gallery at the HKCEC, seminars hosted by acclaimed writers and celebrity storytelling sessions. Visitors can experience the joy of reading and interacting with authors as well as trying out the hottest new sports and leisure activities, helping to build both spiritual and physical strength.

23 July 2019 – The 30th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair and the 3rd HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), both drew to a close today. Despite the tense atmosphere in the city in recent days, the seven-day Hong Kong Book Fair attracted close to 1 million visitors in 2019, giving members of the public the chance to enjoy their favourite books and take part in various cultural events. A range of on-site seminars and Art Gallery exhibitions also received an enthusiastic response.

19 July 2019 − The Internet era of new reading habits and norms is dramatically reducing printed paper readership and presenting unprecedented challenges to the publishing industry. Meanwhile, these developments are also bringing new opportunities, which were explored at the first International Publishing Forum at the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair 2019. The forum was co-organised by the Hong Kong Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Publishing Federation.

In 2019, the fair welcomes a record number of 686 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions, showcased across 15 thematic zones including the General Books Pavilion, International Cultural Village, Children’s Paradise and English Avenue. Each zone features a wide variety of high-quality reading materials while more than 310 cultural events catering to different ages and interests − including seminars, cultural performances and storytelling sessions − are being held during the fair period.

24 July 2018 – The 29th Hong Kong Book Fair and the second Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo concluded today. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the seven-day Hong Kong Book Fair attracted a record 1.04 million visitors. Apart from purchasing their favourite books, readers also participated in various cultural events while the on-site seminars and Art Gallery exhibitions received enthusiastic responses.

20 July 2018－ Technology has changed the publishing industry more than anyone could have predicted just a decade ago. While this has led to many publishers leaving the market, it has also created exciting opportunities for others that are ready to adapt and embrace new technology, according to speakers at the International Publishing Forum, held on 18 July at the 29th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair.

18 July 2018－ The 29th Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened today and runs until 24 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai. This year’s fair welcomes a record number of 680 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions, showcased across 14 thematic zones, including the “General Books Pavilion”, “English Avenue”, “International Cultural Village”, “Children’s Paradise” and “E-books & e-Learning Resource”. These zones display a variety of high-quality reading materials. Meanwhile, precious manuscripts of renowned writers are exhibited at the Art Gallery located at Hall 3 Concourse of the HKCEC. About 310 cultural events catering to different ages and interests are being held during the fair period including seminars, cultural performances and story-telling sessions.

9 July 2018 － A strong international line-up of writers will be featured at the 29th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, which will gather about 680 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 18-24 July. Among the highlights is the International Cultural Village, which will spotlight consulates and cultural promotion organisations from 32 countries showcasing their local books and cultural products. France, Germany, Italy and Poland, together with new participants Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece and Ireland, are joining forces to set up a European Union Pavilion on the first floor of the HKCEC to showcase European culture. Meanwhile, another perennial favourite – the Japan Pavilion – will return to the fair in a record-breaking scale, bringing Japanese literature, classic manga and virtual reality (VR) experiences to Hong Kong readers.

3 July 2018 – The 29th edition of the Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held 18- 24 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Among the highlights will be the returning English Reading and Creative Writing Seminar Series, which this year represents a collaboration between the HKTDC and an international online bookstore -- Book Depository – for the first time. Young writers M.A. Bennett from the United Kingdom as well as Sharlene Teo and Balli Kaur Jaswal from Singapore, will share with the audience how their life experience led them to writing careers. Hong Kong based reporter Mark O’Neill and Denise Y. Ho, an Assistant Professor of history at Yale University, will also introduce their new books about Chinese history.

Refunds will be given to holders of unused tickets to the Hong Kong Book Fair and Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo dated 23 July 2017, when the tropical cyclone warning signal No 8 forced the delayed opening of the fairs.

The 28th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair and the inaugural Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo concluded today. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Book Fair attracted close to one million visitors despite a postponed opening on Sunday due to a typhoon. Apart from an extensive selection of books, the fair offered a wide range of cultural activities, including seminars with renowned writers and Art Gallery exhibitions.

The Hong Kong Book Fair and Hong Kong Sports & Leisure Expo closed briefly under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 and re-opened to the public at 3:20p.m. today. After the HKTDC's consultation with exhibitors and consideration of objective conditions, the opening hours of the two fairs will be extended on Monday and Tuesday for the benefits of visitors and exhibitors.

The Hong Kong Observatory announced No. 3 Strong Wind Signal has been issued at 1:20 p.m. to replace the No. 8 Northwest Gale or Storm Signal. Hong Kong Book Fair and Hong Kong Sports & Leisure Expo will re-open to the public at 3:20 p.m. The Hong Kong Book Fair closing time will remain as 10pm while the Hong Kong Sports & Leisure Expo closing time will be extended to 10pm. Exhibitors are reminded to return to their booths before the fair re-opens to the public.

Book publishing is facing increasing challenges posed by the Internet, which has become the font of most reading and knowledge in the digital era. The trend and possible solutions were discussed at a 19 July seminar held during the 28th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair.

The 28th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair will be held from 19 to 25 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). With the support of the British Council, the English Reading and Creative Writing Seminar Series will return, featuring three British authors: bestselling crime fiction writer Sophie Hannah, and travel writers Sara Wheeler and Tim Moore.

26 July 2016 – The 27th Hong Kong Book Fair ended today, after drawing record attendance of close to 1.02 million visitors. The week-long literary and cultural extravaganza, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, featured an extensive selection of literary works, renowned international authors and diverse cultural activities. An on-site survey found that visitors spent an average of HK$902 at the fair, comparable to last year. And, fiction and literature were the most popular categories.

23 July 2016 – With a full house in attendance, entrepreneur Sir David Tang led an entertaining and informative Open Public Forum on Friday (22 July) with historical fiction writer Wilbur Smith, author and journalist Simon Winchester, and writer and filmmaker the Honourable Hannah Rothschild.

22 July 2014 - The 25th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair concluded today by writing a new page in the history of the event which, for the first time, welcomed more than one million visitors. 23 June 2014 – Some 570 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, a new exhibitor record, will take part in the 25th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, 16-22 July, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The annual fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will feature more than 500 cultural events, a new fair record.

25 July 2012 – The 23rd annual HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, which ended yesterday, attracted some 900,000 visitors during its week-long run. This was despite having to close at 5:45pm on Monday, and reopening yesterday at 12:10pm, because of the typhoon that hit Hong Kong.

23 July 2012 – The Hong Kong Observatory has announced that Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 will be hoisted at 6pm today. The Hong Kong Book Fair will be closed from 5:45pm today. Exhibitors and visitors are requested to leave the exhibition within two hours.Ticket booths are closed and visitors will not be admitted. All Book Fair seminars will be cancelled.
